Scar Revision
Surgical improvement of prominent, wide or poorly-positioned scars — re-excising and re-closing them along natural skin lines for a finer, less visible result.
What it is
Scar revision surgically removes an unfavourable scar and re-closes the wound with meticulous technique, often re-orienting it along relaxed skin tension lines. It is used for wide, raised, tethered or badly-placed scars that non-surgical methods cannot improve enough.
Who it's for
- Wide, raised or stretched scars
- Scars pulling or distorting nearby tissue
- Poorly-positioned or previous surgical scars
- Scars unimproved by non-surgical treatment
The procedure
Performed under local anaesthesia (or general for larger scars), taking 30–90 minutes. The old scar is excised and closed in fine layers. Usually day-care.
Recovery & aftercare
Sutures are removed at five to fourteen days. The new scar then matures and fades over a year, supported by scar-care measures.
