Lipoma Excision

Removal of lipomas — soft, benign fatty lumps — as a straightforward day-care procedure, with neat closure and a tidy scar.

Lipoma Excision

What it is

A lipoma is a soft, benign lump of fatty tissue under the skin. Excision removes it completely through a small incision, relieving any discomfort or self-consciousness and confirming the benign diagnosis.

Who it's for

  • A soft, mobile lump under the skin
  • Lipomas that are enlarging, uncomfortable or visible
  • Multiple or cosmetically bothersome lipomas
  • Anyone wanting a definitive diagnosis and removal

The procedure

Performed under local anaesthesia in 20–45 minutes. The lipoma is removed through a small incision and the skin closed with fine sutures. Larger ones may take longer.

Recovery & aftercare

Mild soreness for a few days. Sutures out at seven to ten days. Activity resumes quickly, guided by size and location.

Frequently asked

Are lipomas dangerous?+
They are almost always benign. We remove them for comfort, appearance or diagnosis, and can send tissue for testing.
Will it leave a scar?+
A small scar proportionate to the lipoma's size, placed and closed carefully to minimise visibility.
Can large lipomas be removed?+
Yes — larger ones simply need a slightly longer procedure and incision, still usually under local anaesthesia.
