Burn Treatment

Specialist care for acute burns — from first assessment and wound management through to dressings, grafting and the prevention of disabling scars.

Burn Treatment

What it is

Acute burn care covers the assessment and management of fresh burns: fluid resuscitation, wound cleaning, dressings, and skin grafting where needed. Dr. Bedi trained in burns at Safdarjung, one of India's foremost burn units, and the early decisions made here shape the eventual scar.

Who it's for

  • Recent burns needing specialist assessment
  • Wounds at risk of deep scarring or contracture
  • Burns requiring skin grafting
  • Patients needing expert dressing and wound management

The procedure

Care is tailored to the burn's depth and extent — from outpatient dressings to surgical debridement and grafting under anaesthesia. Early, correct management is the priority.

Recovery & aftercare

Depends on severity. Throughout, we focus on wound healing and preventing the contractures and scars that follow untreated burns.

Frequently asked

When should I see a specialist?+
As early as possible. The first days strongly influence the eventual scar and function, so early specialist input matters.
Will I need a skin graft?+
Deeper burns often do. We assess depth carefully and graft where it gives the best healing and least scarring.
Can scarring be prevented?+
Early, correct treatment, pressure therapy and follow-up greatly reduce the disabling scars and contractures burns can cause.
